About Canetsfontein
Welcome to Canetsfontein
This magnificent farm is steeped in history going all the way back to the seventeen-hundreds. There is so much natural beauty all around and we offer unparalleled experiences for you to enjoy it all.
And of course, there is the wine. Canetsfontein has a rich history of wine making and today the farm is a model of modern organic wine farming, producing wines that will linger on your palate and in your memory.
Our Wines
Wines with soul
Canetsfontein’s altitude across the farm varies dramatically – from 180 to 310 metres above sea level. Which is why we have three different vineyard areas: The Northwest facing upper slopes, the Northeast facing hills and the lower valley below the main homestead. They each have their own soil type and microclimate and the terroir is excellent for cultivating Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes.
Twenty Five hectares of organic grape growing have been in development since 2021; here all the grapes are harvested by hand, then vinified and barrel-matured in a small boutique cellar on the farm
Activities
For the mind and body
Canetsfontein includes 700 ha of mountain slopes, fynbos, fruit, olive and pines up to an altitude of 1340 meters above sea level, offering many opportunities for nature lovers. Next to activities such as hiking, rock climbing or horse riding, one of the toughest mountain-biking trails in the world is situated here on our farm and snakes its way up and along the Seven Sisters mountains, through pristine fynbos and breathtaking natural beauty.
We host regular events and mountain biking enthusiasts come from far and wide to tackle these awe-inspiring trails.
